Using External Resources

Warning to non-geeks. The following may make your eyes glaze over.

The website built using drupal. Drupal is a very powerful content managment framework and system.
The underlying source code is in PHP. Drupal also incorporates the jQuery Javascript framework.
Many drupal websites are built by  drupal alone, however, Tim has the ability to integrate external
resources - including his own Python/Javascript framework - called (tentatively) dolphy as well
as external databases not 'native' to the drupal website.

This 'hybrid' process can be very productive and combines the possibilities of drupal
with the possibilities and legacy of Tim's codebase.

The examples can be be viewed from the links below :
  • Using drupal PHP to access an external database table - view
  • Incorporating Tim's framework to access an external database table - view
  • Incorporating Tim's framework to access an internal drupal database table - view

The demonstation should be considered a proof of concept of integrating any other
programming language, such as perl, rebol, ruby or anything else.
